THE DASHERS- CANICROSS GROUP
Canicross is a dog sport whereby you are harnessed into your dog. It is a great way for you and your dog to keep fit together! Through running together your bond will go from strength to strength, We have a friendly, supportive running group and encourage anyone to start- you won't regret it!
WHAT KIT DO I NEED?
We encourage the use of the right equipment so that canicross is safe for both you and your dog. You will need a running belt and your dog will need a running harness. Walking harnesses are not advised as it restricts the movement of the dog. A bungee lead is used to attach your to your dog. Most of The Dashers get their belts and harnesses from Non-Stop dog wear however you can get personalised belts and harnesses from a range of companies. If you would like more information on this, come and have a go at one of our introductory sessions.
CAN ANYONE JOIN?
Yes! We encourage anyone to come along. Whether you haven't ran before or an experienced runner come and try out canicross.
We also encourage reactive dogs to our runs- it's a chance to give your dog a job and boost your relationship! Adele specialises in reactive dogs, so she understands your dog's struggles and the group is very understanding of this. We keep distance from each other and if we overtake this is done safely.
WHEN DO WE RUN?
We are on our winter schedule now. We run on a Friday at 7:00am and Sunday at 10:00am.
All runs and locations are confirmed weekly in our facebook group. If the weather is bad the location may change to somewhere safer. When it gets dark, head torches are appropriate.
To be able to join our runs you will need to set up The Dashers Membership which is £10 a month.
